Witness for Life Award at BDF Benefit BDF Honors Bishop Olmsted with Witness for Life Award Attendees of the November 13, 2009 "Passion for Life Benefit" at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort experienced a fun and inspiring event. Nearly 200 guests learned of the work of Bioethics Defense Fund, and joined us in honoring Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted of the Diocese of Phoenix as the recipient of the 2009 BDF Witness for Life Award. “The bishop is a hero in every way,” Nikolas Nikas, president and general counsel of BDF, said in his introduction. “I remember when he came to the diocese in 2003, his first public act besides saying Mass was to go outside a Planned Parenthood abortion facility and pray.” See an article about the event that summarizes the Bishop's beautiful remarks in The Catholic Sun.
